AA1 All Ireland Indoor Track & Field Championships Results
Annalee athletes had some very good performances at the All Ireland Athletics Championships held for the first time in the AIT Indoor Athletics arena in Athlone on the weekend of 23rd and 24th March.
Paul Sexton was competing in the under 16 age group 60m hurdles and ran well in both his heat and final. Paul started strongly but then hit the second hurdle hard which slowed him down. He recovered well to catch up and finished in a clear second place winning the silver medal in 8.73s. Lauren Sexton ran in the 60m Hurdles and the U19 Girls race was a straight final. Lauren showed good style to hurdle cleanly and was placed third in a time of 10.09s. Aine Brady was in the U16 Hurdles and improved on her heat time to take third place in the final in 9.18s and win another national bronze medal. Andrew Creamer was unable to compete in the U19 Boys race due to injury.
There were other notable efforts from the remaining Annalee athletes, all of whom qualified for the All Irelands through their performances in the Ulster Championships.. Abbie Sexton completed a great day for the Sexton family when she qualified for the final of the 60m hurdles and finished 7th overall. Cian Brady was yet another Annalee hurdler and he finished in 6th place in his heat of the U14 Boys 60m hurdles. Roland Surlis finished 3rd in his 800m heat and just missed out on qualifying for the final. Aodhagan Watters was 11th in the U17 1500m but showed good early form and was up with the leading runners for much of the race in 4m.36s. John Nulty was 6th in the U17 Boys long jump with 5.70m. Sean Og Lawlor showed a return to his previous form with a jump of 4.97m in the U16 Boys where he finished 11th. Mary Kate Gannon ran 9.2s in the U12 60m. Finally Aine Brady and Paul Sexton ran in the 200m races. The athletes were unlucky as the 200m events were held immediately following the hurdles finals which both had run in. Aine finished 3rd in her heat and missed out on the final by one place while Paul finished 5th in his heat.

2013 Co Cavan Spring League Day 1 Sunday 10th March
Hope everyone has thawed out after a very chilly start to the Spring League. Well done to all who participated and who stayed on until the bitterly cold end. There were lots of medals and good performances from athletes in all age groups. Results will be posted when circulated by the Board officials. Photos of a few of the hardy particpants posted on Flick.
More brilliant results from Ulster Indoor Championships with double gold for Andrew Creamer in sprints and hurdles, Gold for Paul Sexton in hurdles and bronze in sprints, silvers for Lauren Sexton and Cian Brady in hurdles and Mary Kate Gannon in sprints, Bronze for Abbie Sexton in hurdles, 4th place for Oisin McCorry in hurdles and a 5th place for Bevan McCaffrey in sprints. Aine Brady unlucky to be DQed from the hurdles as she was the fastest qualifier by half a second.
