Twelve Ulster Indoor T&F Championship titles for Annalee AC athletes

Roland Surlis had an outstanding Ulster Championship meet as he won gold in three different U19 events winning the difficult combination of 400m, 1500m as well his favoured 800m. Paul Sexton also had a very good competition with two golds in the U18 60m Hurdles and in the 200m. Aine Brady won two gold medals in the U18 60m hurdles and in the U18 200m. Oisin McCorry and Odhran O Reilly won full sets of medals as they came home with gold, silver and bronze medals. Oisin won his 60 m hurdles and was second in the U16 high jump and third in the 60m sprint. Odhran won the U12 High jump with 1.20m, was second in the 600m and third in the 60m. Roisin Kellegher is another 2015 Annalee AC Ulster champion as she won the U13 Girls high jump with an excellent jump of 1.30m and finished third in the hurdles. Abbey Sexton retained her Ulster Champion title with a fabulous sub 10s run in the 60m hurdles finishing in a time of 9.88s as well as having finished 3rd in the 60m sprint on Day 1. Jamie Dugdale was another to retain the Ulster Championship title as he raced home to win the U14 60m hurdles.

Niamh McCorry won two Ulster silver medals as she was second in the U13 high jump with a personal best jump of 1.25m and then finished second in the hurdles. The long jump competition was hotly contested with big fields but Lucy Hogan had a great leap of 3.79m to finish second. Bevan McCaffrey was another hurdles medallist as she finished in second place in a time of 10.59s in the U14 Girls Hurdles. Donal McSorley won silver in the U12 Boys sprint finishing just 6 one hundredths behind the winner. Donal also had two very close 4th finishes in the U12 long jump and in the 600m. Mary Kate Gannon had a new personal best as she jumped 4.20m to finish in 3rd spot in the U14 Girls. Daire Donohoe jumped 1.30m, a competition pb in the high jump to finish in third place in the U14 boys High jump.

The unusual scheduling of the relays meant that many of the athletes were unable to participate but all the teams that were able to field a quartet won medals with the U14 Girls of Bevan McCaffrey, Alana O’Brien, Tarragh Brady and Mary Kate Gannon winning silver. The U13 girls team consisted of Kate Donohoe, Emily Sheridan, Niamh McCorry and they finished third with a great final leg by Lucy Hogan.  There was a further bronze medal for the U14 Boys team of Jamie Dugdale, Chavez Moore, Conall Ruddy and Daire Donohoe. Malachy O’Brien, Cliodhna Sheridan, Caoimhe O’Reilly, Daire O’Reilly, Wesley Moore, Blathnaid O’Reilly, Ciaran O’Reilly, Mark Sexton and Diarmuid McCorry all ran well in the championships with some of these athletes achieving personal best performances on the day. Congratulations to all the Annalee athletes and a big thank you to parents and coaches who made the journey on such a difficult driving weekend.
