Well done to the Annalee AC Boys U11 Team of Odhran O’Reilly, 5th Donncha McNamara 10th, Alex Prior 25th, Donal McSorley 26th and Malachy O’Brienwho were club gold medal winners in the AAI All Ireland Juvenile Development Games in Dunboyne on Sunday 23rd February. The boys then doubled up with a bronze County Medal for Cavan! 

Aodhagan Watters (pictured to the right) was another medal winner  when he finished a close 5th in the U17 Boys. And Mary Kate Gannon was part of the bronze medal winning County team in the U13 Girls race.

Ulster Schools Cross Country.

Clodagh O’Reilly regained her Ulster Cross Country Schools Title while Ciaran O’Reilly was 4th and Aodhagan Watters was 10th in their respective races. All three qualify for the All Ireland Schools Cross Country in Cork. Full results here

Ulster & NI Indoor Track & Field Championships , Magherafelt 8/9th February 2014


Annalee AC athletes had outstanding results at the Ulster & NI Indoor Track & Field Championships. These included double Gold for Aine Brady, Gold and Silver medals for both Roland Surlis and Paul Sexton and further individual gold medals & Championship titles for Jamie Dugdale, Abbey Sexton and Clodagh O’Reilly. The meet took place in Magherafelt’s Meadowbank Indoor Arena on February 8th and 9th 2014 and the cold temperatures didn’t deter from the performances. 

On Saturday, Annalee’s Roland Surlis won U18 Gold in an exciting 800m finishing in 2.02s with a sprint finish to win the overall race which included the older U19 age group. Jamie Gannon (7.77m) won Silver in the U18 Girls shot putt. Rosin Kellegher (1.20m) was another silver medal winner in the high jump while there were further high jump medals, both bronze, for Conall Ruddy (1.15m) and Niamh McCorry (1.10m). Paul Sexton and Bevan McCaffrey also won bronze medals in the 60m.

Results on Day 2 were also excellent with 60m Hurdles Gold medals for Jamie Dugdale in the U13 Boys(10.47s), Abbey Sexton in the U16 Girls (10.16s), Aine Brady in the U18 Girls (10.14s) and Paul Sexton in the U18 Boys. Paul was over a second faster than the second placed runner in the U18 Hurdles winning in 8.66s. Conall Ruddy (U13 Boys) and Cian Brady (U15 Boys) won silver medals in their hurdle races while Bevan McCaffrey (U13 Girls) added another bronze medal in the hurdles to her sprint medal from Day 1. 

Clodagh O’Reilly won her 1500m in 4:57s with a dominant performance running away from the field for the last two laps and winning by 7 seconds. Caoimhe O’Reilly battled hard to finish in 5th place. Roland Surlis ran in the longer 1500m on Day 2 and was second in a time of 4.24.48s. Aodhagan Watters also finished 5th in the U18 1500m.

There were more high jump medals for Annalee athletes on Day 2 when Oisin McCorry had a competition pb in the High Jump with a leap of 1.45m which brought him from 5th place up to third place and a bronze medal. Cian Brady was 4th with 1.40m, just missing out on a medal.

Annalee AC ‘s Aine Brady won her second title of the day in the afternoon races when she added the 200m title (27.01s) to her 60m hurdles win. Paul Sexton then had a huge pb to win a silver medal in the 200m in 23.74s. Bevan McCaffrey had a brilliant last relay leg to bring the U13 Girls team of Roisin Kellegher, Alanah O’Brien, Mary Kate Gannon back into medal contention and the girls won the bronze team medal.

Other club members performed very well with personal bests for Cliodhna Sheridan in the long jump. Daire Donohoe made it to the finals of the 60m by winning his heat and was placed 7th in the final. Daire was 9th in the U13 Long Jump. Dallan McKenna was 8th in the U12 Long Jump with James Fahy and Cormac Hegarty in 15th and 16th place. Oisin McCorry was 4th in hurdles while Emily Sheridan (3.38m) and Roisin Kellegher (3.37m) were 4th and 5th in the long jump just 6 cms off a medal spot.

Lucy Jane Grant (9.87s) and Roisin Kellegher (9.74s) both qualified for the final of the U12 Girls 60m where Roisin finished 5th and Lucy Jane 8th.  Mary Kate Gannon and Bevan McCaffrey both qualified well for their 60m final with Alanna O’Brien finishing 5th in her heat. Kate Donohoe and Emily Sheridan just missed out despite finishing second and third in their heat. Dallan McKenna won his 60m heat but didn’t get to the final and Cormac Hegarty and James Fahy were 4th and 5th in their heats. Cliodhna Sheridan was 4th in her 60m heat in a time of 9.96s. Emily Sheridan finished 14th, Mary Kate Gannon 14th and Kate Donohoe 18th in the 600m. Cormac Hegarty ran 2:10 to place 13th while Conall Ruddy ran 2:05s to finish 17th in the older age group.

Congratulations to the Clodagh O’Reilly who won the E District Intermediate Girls Cross Country. Other top 12 medallists included Ciaran O’Reilly who was 8th in the Minor Boys and Aodhagan Watters , 9th in the Intermediate Boys.
